    • Early on, focus on long-tail keywords:
      According to SEO experts, beginners should focus on long-tail keywords initially, as they are easier to rank for and have lower competition. This allows new websites to start building authority and driving more targeted traffic.
    • When you have more authority:
      As per my experience, once you have established some authority through long-tail keyword rankings and have built a solid backlink profile, you can begin targeting more competitive, short-tail keywords. At this point, you’ll have a better chance of competing for these terms.
    • When you’re targeting broader branding goals:
      If your goal is to increase brand awareness and reach a large audience, short-tail keywords may make sense as part of a broader SEO strategy. As per my understanding, businesses with a more robust SEO foundation can target these keywords for greater exposure.

     

    In my view, beginners should hold off on short-tail keywords until they have built authority and resources to compete in more competitive spaces.
