ObservationsOn-page basics
One logo with no alt text caused almost every missing alt warning on the site
In short
An audit reported 93 images missing alt text. 88 of them were the same logo, repeated on every page.
What I did
An audit reported 93 images with no alt text. Instead of fixing them one by one, I looked for repeats. The site logo had no alt text and appears on all 88 pages. I added alt text to the logo once, in the media library, and did the same for one banner image that also repeated.
Where
A restaurant website on WordPress, August 2026
What changed
Missing alt text dropped from 93 to almost zero. The homepage went to 0 of 28 images missing. The one case left was an empty placeholder, not a real image.

What you should do
When an audit shows many missing alt texts, sort the list by image file. If one file repeats, fix that file and the fix applies everywhere it is used.
How long it took
Five minutes
Alt text is a short written description of an image. Screen readers read it aloud, and search engines use it to understand the picture.
Why it matters
An audit number like 93 looks like a big job. Here it was really one problem repeated 88 times. Fixing the logo once removed almost the whole list.
How to check your own site
- Export your audit list and sort it by image address. Count how often each image appears.
- For an image the theme adds to every page, such as a logo, set the alt text in the media library.
- Note that images placed inside a post keep their own alt text. Those must be fixed inside the post, not in the media library.

What this changed in how I work
Before I fix a long list of the same error, I look for the one thing causing most of it.
