The product descriptions were the same text dozens of other sellers use

In short

When every seller copies the manufacturer, no page has a reason to rank above the others.

What I did

I compared the product descriptions on a distributor's website with other sites. The text matched the manufacturer's own copy, word for word. The same text also appeared on large retailers and other distributors.

What changed

Nothing yet. Recommended fix: rewrite the main product pages with information only this seller has, such as local stock, support, delivery and real uses.
What you should do

Copy one sentence from your product page and search for it in Google inside quotation marks. If many other sites show the same sentence, your page needs its own words.
How long it took

Ongoing, starting with the best-selling products

Duplicate content is text that appears word for word on more than one website.

Why it matters

If ten sites publish the same description, Google usually shows only one or two of them for the same search, and those are often the biggest sites. A smaller seller using the same text rarely wins.

The fix is not to rewrite every word for the sake of it. It is to add what only you know: what is in stock locally, how fast it ships, what support you give, and how customers actually use it.

How to check your own site

  • Search one sentence from a product page in quotation marks.
  • Start rewriting with the products that sell the most.

What this changed in how I work

I test one copied sentence in Google on every store review. It takes a minute and shows instantly whether the content is original.
